SCAM Invoice warning – McAfee, Norton, Etc…

Please be aware that there are many scam emails out there and some can be very jarring and scary. FIRST! DON’T PANIC! That’s how they get you. Here’s the scenario.

You receive an email that makes a statement like, “Thank you for your payment”, “Invoice attached”, “invoice#######”, etc. These many times have text or an attachment that show you will be automatically renewed for a service that is sometimes between 300 USD or 400 USD. In addition, there are usually very SPECIFIC instructions that tell you to call the number specified, that the email and website won’t help or respond. This is used to scare you into calling the number.

Their plan is to get you on the phone and get you to give them a credit card or some specific banking information so they can “cancel” the renewal, or refund you your money. The end goal here is to get you to give them your information so they can steal money from you.

There is NO auto renewal, or service, software etc. It’s all a scam.

A SIDE NOTE: Many times these get past the spam filters because they use very innocuous language and just attach an image with the “invoice”, so it looks pretty legit to most email clients.

Below are some images of a few emails that I’ve personally received that are examples of this scam.
